Website Redesign and Parking App
O1. THE BRIEF
The City of Santa Monica’s website had not been updated in over a decade resulting in a disjointed user experience for residents, tourists, and employees alike.
During the year-long overhaul, I was involved in pitching and planning, user research, user experience design, prototyping, and user interface design.

Create a cohesive system for over 500 pages of content.

Create a better experience for Santa Monica’s 8 million annual tourists; every summer weekend the city’s population doubles or triples.

In addition to creating a simplified design system, we created a real-time parking web application to alleviate the flow of traffic in and out of the city.
O2. PARKING WEB APP
Improving Real Experiences
If you’ve ever visited Santa Monica’s famous beaches on a warm Saturday afternoon, you’d know looking for parking is one of the most frustrating experiences. I led an initiative to create a parking map web application to solve this problem.
Our parking app gives users real-time information so there’re no surprises to a full lot. City parking is also a fraction of the price of private parking, saving visitors money and earning the city revenue.
Creating the Best Solution
During research, I identified multiple municipalities that had similar parking web apps. I liked that the City of Portland had multiple filters and views for different use cases like park and ride and disability parking.
